Jimmie L. Swallers

	Jimmie L. Swallers, 72, of DuQuoin, passed away at 12:37 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2001 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
	Jimmie was a retired 35-year employee of DuQuoin Packing Company.  He was of the Protestant faith.  He was a member of AFLCIO Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
	He was born December 26, 1928 at DuQuoin, the son of Roy B. and Lucille (Wright) Swallers.  He married Nila L. Poling on October 3, 1954 at the Presbyterian Church in DuQuoin and she survives.
	He is survived by his wife of DuQuoin; two sons, Steven E. Swallers and wife Cheryl of DuQuoin and Stuart Dale Swallers of DuQuoin; special friend, Jammi Likes of DuQuoin; grandchildren, Rachel E. Swallers and Matt B. Swallers, both of DuQuoin; brother, Bob Swallers and wife Betty of DuQuoin and nieces and nephews.
	He was preceded in death by his parents.
	Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 12 at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin with Rev. Carl Mesiti officiating.
	Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin.
	Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park at DuQuoin.
	Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Lights or to the American Heart Association.	Military graveside rites were conducted by the DuQuoin VFW Post 513.
